Why Am I Better At The Internet Than You?

11/02/2009

The key to the internet is knowing what websites are going to save you money and make your internet browsing worth it.

Some examples are ebay.com, amazon.com, and craigslist.org.  These are the ones everyone knows about.  What I share with you in this blog can’t leave here or it would ruin everything.  Seriously.  The economy would crash, babies would burst into tears, and KFC would burn the secret recipe.

Ok:

Steep and Cheap – A mix of stuff like hiking gear, climbing gear, and outdoor clothing.  If you catch something up that you want, the price is generally 50% to 80% off.

Whiskey Militia – Like Steep and Cheap but with more skateboard stuff and clothes.

woot! – One item up a day for a ridiculous discounted price.  Deals with computer stuff exclusively

sellout woot! – Includes regular woot! and then an entire other website dedicated to online and in store sales.   If you can’t find a coupon for something here you need to return your internets.

kids woot! – Cheap bargains on kids stuff!

t-shirt woot! – Different t-shirt everyday.  Nothing over $10.00.

wine woot! – If you’re an alcoholic, you’ve found heaven.

Couch Surfing – Traveling?  Need a place to stay for free?  Cha-ching!

Pandora - Internet radio.  You enter a band or musician, it plays one song by that musician, then launches into a playlist of songs by similar artists.  Completely free.  Also has an iPhone app

Tiger Direct -or- Newegg – Computer related stuff at discount prices.  Awesome.

Weather Desktop Gadget – Desktop gadget, runs next to your clock on the taskbar.  Informs you of the weather and forecasts.

All Posters – Cheap wall coverings for your home and room.

Surf The Channel – Like Hulu, except it doesn’t suck ass.

Coupons – All sorts of coupons.

Smart Source – You need more coupons?  Then you’re welcome.

Coupon Mom – More coupons than you could ever need.

Catch Youtube – Converts Youtube videos into savable .mp3 files among other formats.

Chegg – Why buy textbooks when you can just rent them?

Freecycle – Sign up, find your town, and get free stuff.

Alright, who has stuff to add?  Let’s see it people.

  1. Holy Irish Jesus, you’re the guru of savings on the internets. I forgot about Pandora. I used to use that site all the time to find new music. And not that this is a bad thing (financially), but are you going to be one of those people who goes into CVS with a freezer bag full of coupons and holds up the line, then gets 100 items for nine cents?

    • Ideally, when I’m a “grown ass man” and I have a “grown ass man job” I won’t need to worry so much about money.

But now, when I work part time and have to pay for school, I pinch everything I can.

  2. ahhh coupons!! I was a cashier at ACME for three years and coupons were my enemy. But, I was younger and now I appreciate the value of a coupon. Although, I REFUSE to be that person who has a coupon for everything and fights to the death to have the coupon used even if its past its expiration date…I hope you’re not one of “them”.

    • I was a cashier at Genuardis and I got the Sunday morning after church crowd roll in and try to use 15 10 cent off coupons for Campbells soup.

And when I have to explain I can only use one they ask for a manager.

And then I have to listen to them yell at the manager.

Then somehow I got yelled at for not accepting the coupon.

      I quit after 2 months.

      • I’ve been at CVS for six years. I know how it is. I once argued with some lady over a ten-cent coupon. Why? It had no expiration date, but it was clearly from the 70s and it said “store coupon,” which does NOT mean you can use it at any “store.” It means it was for whatever store printed it, as opposed to a manufacturer’s coupon. I ended up taking it because it was only ten cents, but hey, principles are principles.

  3. never been to Pandora, but last.fm fits the exact same description, to my knowledge.
